FEATURES OF THE EMPA

In order to fulfill the need of those who work either in public sector or non-profit organizations, the EMPA program of the Department not only offers modern management and research training but also pay special attention to the analysis of practical cases. With the effort of integrating theories and practices, we hope to build up the leadership and analytical skills for managers working in both public and private sectors.

The program is divided into two branches, public management and project management. With the former focusing on organization leadership and administrative management and the latter concerning the project analysis and achievement of coordination and integration.

MISSION


The Department of Public Affairs prepares students to become the first class managers of public affairs and guide citizens to actively participate the planning and management of various public affairs. In addition, we aim to broaden students’ horizon and his/her quality of humanities. A full-fledged elite with leadership capability is always what we want to deliver to the society.

We stared to propose an EMPA program called public management and community development for those who need to advance their knowledge in the field of public affairs. And this program was offered both on Taipei and taoyuan campus.

The graduate school and undergraduate program of the department was established in 2001 and 2003 respectively.

We will consider the graduate program as the core of the department in the future and treat undergraduate students as prospective graduate students. In addition, we will keep updating course design for both graduate and EMPA programs so that everyone graduating from their program can not only conducting research independently but also has the capability and knowledge to deal with problems in the work place.

STRENGTH

  • According to the tendency of public affairs, the department frequently shapes its goals and accordingly update its courses.
  • In line with technical development, the department explores new teaching approaches in integrating the field of project management and public affairs. Therefore, we prepare our students for meeting their job needs.
  • The teaching quality of our faculty members is outstanding and sufficient for students’ need,
  • The faculty members take advantage of using multiple teaching techniques. In addition, they are fairly flexible in meeting different situations of various classes.
  • We not only have adequate faculty members but also enjoy reputation for brilliant academic researches and professional performance in diversified areas.
  • We constantly hold various academic activities to offer platform for publishing research findings in public affairs .
  • We, as a department, have the only public opinion survey classroom and mock council across nation. These professional classrooms provide students with the opportunity to apply theories learned to the practical situations.
